Eagles of Death Metal Speak Out After Paris Attacks

For the American band Eagles of Death Metal, November 13 was going to be a special day. After all, they were headlining one of the most iconic indie rock venues in Paris: Le Bataclan. What happened during the attacks led by the terrorists of Daesh made the night unforgettable in a depressing way.
Now, a little over a week after the attacks that resulted in 89 deaths only at the nightclub, the band (who all survived) have given their first interview. The interview is set to be released sometime this week, on Vice. But we already have a one minute preview of the painful honesty that will come with it.
Lead singer Jesse Hughes and his bandmate (and super producer) Joshua Homme recount the events at Le Bataclan. Hughes, choked up and teary-eyed, describes how some people tried to hide in the band’s dressing room, only to be murdered there.
"The killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except a kid who hid under my leather jacket," Hughes said.
Perhaps the more touching moment in the preview is when Hughes speaks of the humanity displayed by the victims of the attacks.
"So many people wouldn't leave their friends," Hughes said. "So many people put themselves in front of people."
