WHICH HOLLYWOOD ACTORS ARE THE MOST OVERPAID ACCORDING TO FORBES?

On Wednesday Forbes released their annual “Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actors” list, and Johnny Depp is in the lead for the second year in a row.  Each year, Forbes calculates which Hollywood actors are the most overpaid, usually consisting of Hollywood male leads such as Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise.  The 2016 ranking is no different, although it does include Julia Roberts as the only woman listed.

Forbes’ method for the ranking goes as follows: “We looked at the last three films each actor starred in before June 2016, save animated films, movies where the actor appeared in an insignificant role, or movies that were released on fewer than 2,000 screens.  We did not examine folks unless they had starred in a new eligible movie since last year's scoring period.  We then deducted the estimated production budget from the global box office for each film according to Box Office Mojo to come up with a limited definition of each movie’s operating income.  We took the total operating income from the star's three most recent significant films then divided by the star's estimated pay for those films to come up with a final return on investment number.”

Basically, Forbes figures out which Hollywood stars are getting paid more than their films are raking in at the box office.  Of course, the list is not intended to suggest these actors are not deserving of their success.

AMBER HEARD SAYS, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PSA

Amber Heard recently partnered with #GirlGaze Project to release a domestic violence PSA.  The PSA comes after Heard’s very public divorce from Johnny Depp earlier this year.  In May 2016, Heard brought domestic abuse allegations against Depp, but eventually dropped the suit in August when Depp settled for $7 million.

In the PSA, Heard gets emotional while revealing personal details about her own experience with domestic violence.  She shares the thoughts that went through her own head during the abuse, such as “How is this happening to me?”  Heard addresses the fact that abuse can happen “in your home behind closed doors.”  Heard fights back tears at one point when she says,  “telling someone safe is the beginning of choosing yourself.” Heard speaks directly to abuse survivors, saying, “You are not alone.”

In the video, Heard recognizes the “unique opportunity” she has to bring awareness to the issue from being in the public eye.  Heard encourages the media and people in general to change the way we talk about domestic violence.  She implores viewers to, “Speak up.  Raise your voice.”

Watch the full PSA below to hear the rest of Heard’s moving words.

Today we honor International Day for the Elimination of Violence Towards Women with this powerful message from Amber Heard.
