JENNIFER GARNER WANTS TRUMP TO HELP AMERICA’S IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN

Larry French/Getty Images

Larry French/Getty Images

Jennifer Garner, a liberal-minded actress who supported Hillary Clinton in the last election, has voiced her desire to work with Donald Trump to help impoverished American children.  Garner has been a longtime early education advocate for poor children in places like the West Virginia community where she was raised.  Garner has been a board member of the Save the Children nonprofit organization for almost a decade, which has brought her to Washington, D.C. on many occasions to advocate for underprivileged rural areas.

This past weekend, Garner went to the White House to continue her efforts.  Garner has decided to put politics aside in favor of asking Trump for help, she told The Washington Post, “If he’s willing to help the poor kids who got him elected, then let’s do it.  They certainly think he’s going to.”  Garner said, “I’m looking forward to helping him make good on what they saw as promises, a mandate from him, that he was going to make their lives better.”

Garner said many politicians she has met claim they will help with childhood funding, but don’t follow through: “Everyone’s nodding and couldn’t agree more, and shaking your hand and want their picture.  But when the vote is cast, nobody’s out there screaming and yelling for poor kids.”  Garner continued, “Send me a ticket to Mar-a-Lago.  I’m ready to go down and have a steak and a good chat.  I really think it’s great, if [Trump]’s willing to help the poor kids who got him elected.”

Garner’s work with Save the Children includes urging Congress and state governments to “fund reading and literacy programs that include all-day kindergarten.”  Garner said, “You just wouldn’t believe the number of kids who have never heard a nursery rhyme.”

The Washington Post reported Garner’s activities in D.C. over the weekend: “The 44-year-old actress spent the weekend lobbying the town’s pillars of power to support early education for poor rural children.  She spent Friday on Capitol Hill meeting dozens of top staff members.  On Saturday, she delivered the keynote address before the annual National Governors Association winter meeting here.”  Garner also had a planned sit-down with Ivanka Trump, but it was canceled due to scheduling conflicts.  The actress looks forward to making the meeting happen sometime in the future.

TRUMP’S TRAVEL BAN HINGES ON FEDERAL APPEALS COURT RULING

AP

AP

On Wednesday, Donald Trump criticized the Federal Appeals Court judges who will decide whether to reinstate Trump’s executive order on immigration.  The three judges are Judge William Canby, Judge Richard Clifton and Judge Michelle Friedland, from the California-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Trump spoke in front of the Major Cities Chiefs Association in Washington, D.C., and said of the Federal Appeals Court: “I don’t want to call a court biased, so I won’t call it biased.  Courts seem to be so political and it would be so great for our justice system if they could read a statement and do what’s right.”

Trump also read out a section of U.S. immigration law that he felt backed his immigration order, and insisted that the President has the authority to decide who enters the country.  Trump said that even “a bad high school student” could understand the immigration language and agree to reinstate his travel ban.  Trump continued, “I think it’s sad, I think it’s a sad day.  I think our security is at risk today.  And it will be at risk until such time that we are entitled and get what we are entitled to as citizens of this country.  We want security.”

Last Friday, Trump’s travel ban, which bars refugees from entering the U.S., and stops immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen was halted by US District Judge James Robart.  Trump tweeted over the weekend in response to the ruling:

NORDSTROM DROPS IVANKA TRUMP'S BRAND AMID #GRABYOURWALLET BOYCOTT

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images

On Thursday, Nordstrom officially dropped Ivanka Trump brand’s clothing and accessories from their stores and website.  Nordstrom said the reason for cutting ties with Trump was due to poor sales of the brand’s products.  Nordstrom released a statement: “We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance.  We’ve got thousands of brands – more than 2,000 offered on the site alone.  Reviewing their merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business.  Each year we cut about 10 percent and refresh our assortment with about the same amount.  In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

Nordstrom’s decision comes amid the #GrabYourWallet movement.  The movement, named after Donald Trump’s infamous “Grab them by the p***y” comment, encourages people to boycott businesses and brands that are affiliated with the Trump family.  The group, started by Shannon Coulter and Sue Atencio, published a website dedicated to the boycott.  The website’s “What We're About” section says: “#GrabYourWallet boycott has grown into a movement and central resource for the flexing of consumer power in favor of a more respectful and inclusive society.”

The website details which companies people should boycott and which companies have been dropped from the boycott after they stopped selling Trump products.  The companies that have since ended business with Trump products include: Uber, RueLaLa, Bellacor, Shoes.com, Jenny Craig and now, Nordstrom.

On Twitter, Nordstrom insisted it was “not a political decision”:

HOLLYWOOD CAN'T STOP TRUMP BUT SPRINGSTEEN, LAWRENCE AND MANY MORE CONTINUE TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE IMMIGRATION BAN!

Getty Images

Getty Images

Last week, Donald Trump signed an executive order, known as the “Muslim ban,” that barred refugees and people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.  Thousands of Americans have joined forces to protest the immigration ban since then, including a number of famous faces.  Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lawrence, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are some of the celebrities who have spoken out or taken action against the ban.  THE WANNA has compiled a list of all the celebs who have made a stand against Trump’s immigration order below.

Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen sent a strong political message at his recent concert in Adelaide, Australia.  On stage Springsteen addressed, “the Muslim ban and the detention of foreign Nationals and refugees.”  He continued: “America is a land of immigrants.  This is fundamentally un-American.  This is a song about immigrants.”  He then performed, “American Land,” to cheers from the crowd.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, which took a jab at the Trump administration:

Kal Penn

After a bigoted Twitter user told Kal Penn, “You don’t belong in this country,” Penn created a crowd-funding campaign to aid Syrian refugees in response to the hater.  Penn’s crowdrise page is called, “Donating to Syrian refugees in the name of the dude who said I don’t belong in America.”  The page states: “We are better than the hateful people who tell us we don't belong in our own country, that America can't be a beacon of freedom and hope for refugees from around the world. We will turn their bigotry, along with the President's, into love.”  So far, the fundraiser has raised over $750,000.

Sia

Sia pledged to match up to $100,000 in donations to the American Civil Liberties Union the day after Trump signed the immigration order.  Sia tweeted:

This prompted other celebrities to follow suit, including Rosie O’Donnell and Judd Apatow, who vowed to join Sia in her donations pledge.

Bella and Gigi Hadid

The Hadid sisters, both of Muslim descent, joined others on the streets of New York to protest the Muslim ban.  The duo held a sign that said, “We are all Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, Christians, Jews,” highlighting the letters that spell out the word “humans.”  Other celebs to join the Muslim ban protests include Ellen Page and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke out about Trump’s Muslim ban in an interview with Mario Lopez on Extra.  Schwarzenegger, who Trump recently mocked for his Celebrity Apprentice ratings on Twitter, discussed the way in which Trump went about creating the ban.  Schwarzenegger said, “I think the real problem is that it was vetted badly.  If they would run this by the Justice Department and Homeland Security and had the lawyers really study and focus on it and give it some time to do it the right way.”  He continued, “To go and ban people who have a green card, that means that the United States of America has given you permission to work here permanently and you are on the way to permanent citizenship.  I was in that position.  It’s crazy, it’s crazy and makes us look stupid when the White House is ill-prepared to put this kind of executive order out there.”

A group of celebrities have come together in a new PSA to urge the Republican members of the Electoral College to change the outcome of the 2016 Election and deny Donald Trump the Presidency.  The celebrities that take part in the video are Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Noah Wyle, Freda Payne, Bob Odenkirk, J. Smith Cameron, Michael Urie, Moby, Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Richard Schiff, Christine Lahti, Steven Pasquale, Dominic Fumusa, Emily Tyra, and Talia Balsam.  Martin Sheen kicks off the video saying, “Republican voters of the Electoral College, this message is for you.”  Debra Messing says that Trump “lacks the necessary stability” to be President of the United States.  The celebs go on to urge the Electoral College members to vote for anyone other than Trump: “I’m not asking you to vote for Hillary Clinton…Any eligible person, no matter which party they belong to.”

The celebs then address the EC directly: “You have the position, the authority, and the opportunity to go down in the books as an American hero who changed the course of history.”

BALDWIN FACES OFF WITH TRUMP VIA TWITTER

Saturday Night Live/NBC

Saturday Night Live/NBC

On this past week’s Saturday Night Live, Alec Baldwin reprised his role as President-elect Donald Trump for a new skit, “Donald Trump Prepares Cold Open.”  Trump was less than pleased yet again with Baldwin’s comical impression of him, and expressed his distaste on Twitter.

Twitter, @realDonaldTrump

Twitter, @realDonaldTrump

Baldwin did not take Trump’s Twitter criticism of the SNL skit lying down.  Instead, Baldwin took the opportunity to give Trump some political advice in a series of direct tweets, as seen below:

Twitter, @ABFalecbaldwin

Twitter, @ABFalecbaldwin

The SNL skit that has Trump so upset takes a comedic look at how Trump might handle various aspects of his Presidency, such as his plans for immigration and Obamacare.  For each campaign issue brought up by “Mike Pence,” played by Beck Bennett, Baldwin says the opposite of what Trump had promised during his campaign.  For example, when “Pence” brings up their plan to scrap Obamacare, Baldwin says, “Keep it.  Let’s just keep it.”  The skit jokingly suggests that Trump will not follow through with many of his campaign promises once he takes office.

HILLARY CLINTON MAKES FINAL PUSH FOR VOTES WITH HELP FROM MADONNA, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND JON BON JOVI

Kevin Dietsch/UPI

Election Day, November 8th, is here people!  Americans are flocking to the polls to cast their ballots for the next U.S. President.  Throughout this presidential race, famous singers have taken the stage at various rallies and fundraisers in support of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, including Katy Perry, Beyonce, and Chance the Rapper.  On the final night before Election Day, Hillary got some major help from music legends Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, and Madonna.

Monday night, Hillary held a last-minute rally at Independence Mall in Philadelphia, for a crowd of around 20,000 people.  Hillary was joined by her husband Bill Clinton, the Obamas, Bruce Springsteen, and Jon Bon Jovi.  Bon Jovi performed a live set for the rally crowd, including The Beatles’ “Here Comes The Sun.”  Bon Jovi then addressed the audience, saying, “I am voting for someone who sees my nieces as future leaders, and not objects to be rated.”

Next up, Springsteen performed his three songs, "Thunder Road," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Long Walk Home."  Springsteen had some choice words for Donald Trump: “This is a man whose vision is limited to little beyond himself, who has the profound lack of decency that would allow him to prioritize his own interests and ego before American democracy itself.  Somebody who would be willing to damage our long-cherished and admired system rather than look to himself for the reasons behind his own epic failure.  And that's unforgivable. Tomorrow, those ideas and that campaign is going down.”

Springsteen finished with, “Let's all do our part so we can look back on 2016 and say we stood with Hillary Clinton on the right side of history. That's why I'm standing here with you tonight, for the dream of a better America.”

Nothing like a free Springsteen-Bon Jovi concert to spread the word to get out and vote!

Hillary also had some last-minute campaign help from Madonna.  The hugely famous singer took it upon herself to perform a surprise, acoustic concert in New York City’s Washington Square Park Monday night.  She sang, “Express Yourself,” “Like A Prayer,” and John Lennons’ “Imagine.”  After the performance, Madonna implored the audience to vote, saying, “Please come out tomorrow.  Vote with your heart, vote with your mind, vote with your spirit, vote with your soul.  Save this country, please.  Vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton!”

Should Ripa fans (that's us) expect to see another big show change in the New Year?  Apparently, ABC recently announced that on November 9th, the day after America votes for our next President, the November 9th episode of "Live! With Kelly" hosted by the one and only, Kelly Ripa, will also be co-hosted by Fox News host, Megyn Kelly!  The news was officially tweeted by the "Live! With Kelly" official Twitter account:

Twitter, @LiveKelly

We do know the last time the network made a change, Ripa was the last to know but, this time it sounds like those execs have learned their lesson and will treat Ms. Ripa with the utmost respect she deserves!  Point is, it's no secret that Ripa and the show team have been on the hunt for a replacement co-host ever since Michael Strahan left Live! in May 2016.

The question is, does Ripa even need a "full time" co-host?

America's morning show sweetheart is killing it on her own!  Ripa has been keeping fans entertained with a round robin of guest co-hosts including Anderson Cooper, Fred Savage, hubby Mark Consuelos, Kevin Hart, and Andy Cohen, to name a few.  There has been plenty of speculation about who will fill the seat next to Ripa, but no official decision has been made.

It is still possible the Nov. 9th "Kelly and Kelly" episode could be a test for fans.  Megyn is no stranger to pulling in prime time ratings.  The lawyer is the host of The Kelly File on the Fox News Channel weekday nights.  Megyn's prior hosting gig was, America Live and America’s Newsroom.  Kelly was also included in Time’s 2014 list of 100 most influential people.  Megyn is a political commentator, and will no doubt discuss the outcome of the election on November 9th with Ripa.  Her political prowess could bring a whole new perspective to the conversation on Live!  The WANNA would love to see these two intelligent, powerful ladies host a show together!  Double the blondes equals double the fun!

The Live! With Kelly guests on November 9th are Naomi Watts and Michael Ealy.  Be sure to tune in on November 9th to catch Kelly and Kelly together!

MILEY CYRUS SAYS VOTE FOR HILLARY OR “KISS MY ASHTANGA ASS”

There is no doubt that Miley Cyrus is with Hillary Clinton.  The 23-year old singer and actress visited George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, on Saturday to encourage students to vote for Hillary on Election Day, November 9th.  Cyrus was no understated Clinton supporter.  She tweeted and posted to Instagram about her GMU campaign trip, always including the hashtag #imwithher.  Miley proudly displayed Clinton campaign signs and donned a glittery red, white and blue ensemble, complete with a pink feathered headband.  And in true Miley fashion, almost every pic snapped of her at GMU featured her famous “tongue pose.”

While it’s clear Cyrus had a blast campaigning at George Mason University, she made sure to let students know she still meant business.  Cyrus knocked on multiple dorm doors and talked politics with the students.  Jake Zartman, 18, was one student who got up close and personal with Cyrus.  When Cyrus asked Zartman if he planned to vote, he responded that he already had for Hillary.  Cyrus cheered, “Yeah!” to which Zartman replied, “Obviously.”

Student Katherine Quigley, 19, told Cyrus she planned to vote for Hillary.  Cyrus approved, but quipped that if she was not shooting The Voice on Election Day, she would come back to make sure.

After her campaign trip to GMU, Cyrus summed up her political views for her Instagram followers in one very clear message:

BEST CELEB TWEETS FROM THE FINAL CLINTON VS. TRUMP DEBATE

Joe Raedle/AP

Joe Raedle/AP

Millions of Americans tuned into CNN last night to watch Clinton and Trump fight dirty during the final Presidential debate, at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.  The moderator, registered Democrat, Fox News Host, Chris Wallace kicked off the debate with a "take no prisoners" attitude.  Wallace stuck to the script for the most part and kept the candidates in line.  The "nasty" back and forth zingers between Trump and Hill didn't disappoint.

Trump called Clinton, “a nasty woman,” and Clinton called Trump a “puppet.”  Americans will miss watching the entertaining and controversial exchanges between Trump and Hill.  Yes, we can thank Trump for his unconventional approach to politics.  But, all the fun isn't over just yet.  You can bet the debate will continue online.  Donald does love to lash out during his late night tweet sessions.  Trump isn't the only one tweeting politics.  Twitter has been a major resource for the entire nation during this election.   Numerous famous faces have voiced their opinions via Twitter.  The WANNA has been following the celebrity tweets posted each presidential debate.  The final debate generated some serious anti-Trump celebrity tweets.

Aaron Paul attacked Trump’s grammar and tweeted, “Very much smarter. –Trump.”  Others blatantly tweeted their support for Hillary.  Patton Oswalt tweeted, “Hillary trying not to laugh at Pasty McHonky saying 'hombre.'"

WHO ARE THE CELEBS THAT WON'T BE VOTING FOR TRUMP NOVEMBER 8TH? WATCH THIS...

Joss Whedon/YouTube

Joss Whedon/YouTube

It's no surprise that when it comes to politics, the majority of A-listers tend to lean to the left and the 2016 Presidential election is no exception.  Safe to say, the current Presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, is a screenplay no one could have written.  Of course Tinsel Town still has a Conservative following but, several famous Democrats have made it their mission to publicly denounce Trump and stand behind Hillary this election year!  Over the years, Hollywood is known for creating PSA’s that encourage fans to vote.  This year, several stars took the message one step further and flat out revealed why you don't wanna vote for Trump.

The WANNA curated a list of celebs below, who took the time to create PSA’s and "video" messages that share one very clear message, vote for Hillary!

Kathy Griffin

The comedian says “Donald, F*** Off!” in this hilarious new take on a moving Hillary Clinton campaign video.

Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/mrjamesstapes/ http://www.instagram.com/johnraphael12/ Twitter : http://twitter.com/jamesstapes http://twitter.com/johnraphael Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ABritAYank The original version of this campaign ad from Hillary Clinton, titled "Mirrors," shows young women mixed with clips of some of the horrible things Donald Trump has said. This spoof features Kathy Griffin telling the Donald what she thinks of his deplorable behavior.

Aziz Ansari

Actor and comedian Aziz Ansari sarcastically addresses the fact that people seem to “need” celebrity voting ads to actually get out and vote.  On the more serious note, Ansari asserts that Trump “doesn’t believe in climate change” and “hates brown people.”

Find your polling location here http://nextgenclimate.org/vote/

Robert DeNiro

This is one of the more scathing and direct anti-Trump videos, in which Robert DeNiro calls Trump a number of things, including “pig,” “blatantly stupid,” and says he would like to “punch him in the face.”  This one needs to be seen to be believed.

Hollywood star Robert De Niro came out with this political attack statement in the aftermath of the Access Hollywood leaked tape of Donald Trump's sexy locker room talk with host Billy Bush. In the commercial like remarks he trashed trump. DeNiro expressed opposition and disgust with Trump's character as reflected in the 10 year old hidden mic remarks.

Keegan-Michael Key

On Sunday, Hillary Clinton left early from the 9/11 Memorial Service at Ground Zero after she felt “over-heated.”  One Twitter video shows Clinton uneasily get into her van, aided by Secret Service agents.  Clinton then rested at her daughter Chelsea’s apartment for about 90 minutes, where she recuperated.  When she left the apartment, she said, “I’m feeling great.  It’s a beautiful day in New York.”  She also stopped to pose for a photo with a young girl, before she headed to her home in Chappaqua.

Clinton’s campaign released her doctor’s statement that said she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday.  Dr. Lisa R. Bardack examined Clinton at home after the 9/11 memorial incident, and said, “She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule.  At this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated.”  Dr. Bardack also stated that, “Mrs. Clinton is rehydrated and recovering nicely.”

The morning after 9/11, Hillary told reporters, “Now the advice, of course, is just don’t talk for a day or two,” she laughed. “Yeah, that’s not gonna work for me. I’m just gonna keep talking and hope that power through and tomorrow I’ll be fine.”

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump responded to Clinton’s sudden illness on Fox News.  Trump said, “I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail and we’ll be seeing her at the debate.”  Trump then promised to share his own medical examination results, saying, “I saw what was going on with her and I said ‘you know I’m going to do something.’  I’ll be announcing, sometime during the week I’ll be handing out a paper with some very large numbers, hopefully very good statistics.”  He also added, “I feel very confident, otherwise I probably wouldn’t be telling you I did this.”

CRITICS SLAM MATT LAUER ON TWITTER FOR LAST NIGHT'S ONE ON ONE INTERVIEWS WITH CLINTON AND TRUMP!

On Wednesday night, the “Today” show host, Matt Lauer moderated the primetime, NBC News “Commander-in-Chief Forum” conducting two separate thirty-minute interviews, first with Hillary Clinton and second with Donald Trump.  Clinton lost in the coin toss so Trump made her go first.

Several media critics ripped into Lauer’s line of questioning and even his overall behavior, during the primetime NBC News forum via Twitter.

Lauer was first criticized for his choice to question Clinton about the private email server issue.  This discussion lasted 10 minutes, which caused him to later shorten the conversation on ISIS.  When an audience member asked Clinton to explain her plans to defeat ISIS, Lauer interrupted and said, “As briefly as you can.”  Political commentator Norman Ornstein tweeted, “It is amazing. Lauer interrupted Clinton's answers repeatedly to move on. Not once for Trump. Tough to be a woman running for President.”

Lauer was also criticized for his questions directed at Trump.  Lauer asked Trump his opinion about the war in Iraq, to which Trump responded, “I was totally against the war in Iraq.”  But earlier, Clinton had referenced an interview Trump previously had with Howard Stern in which Trump said he supported the war.  Ezra Klein, Founder of Vox.com, tweeted, “It’s not a great idea, in general, for journalists to let politicians get away with bald-faced, on-camera lies."

Former aide to President Obama, Tommy Vietor, tweeted, “How in the hell does Lauer not factcheck Trump lying about Iraq? This is embarrassingly bad.”

Many other media critics took to Twitter to share their outrage and dislike for Lauer’s performance.

Former President Obama speechwriter, Jon Favreau tweeted, “I don't blame Lauer for asking the email question. But it's ABSURD that he started off with Trump, ‘Why should you be Commander-in-Chief?’”

New York Magazine columnist, Jonathan Chait tweeted, “Trump lies about opposing Iraq war. Lauer lets it go. No follow up. Unreal.”

Will Saletan, a writer at Slate tweeted “Lauer has done great interviews. But that's one of the weakest, least incisive performances I've seen from a presidential forum moderator.”

New York Times columnist, Nicholas Kristof, summed up the general consensus in his tweet, “This #NBCNewsForum feels like an embarrassment to journalism. It's about soundbites, not serious discussion of foreign policy.”

FILIPINO PRESIDENT CALLS PRESIDENT OBAMA A "SON OF A WHORE!"

Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte went on a rant against President Barack Obama.  The two leaders were to meet in Laos for pre-scheduled meetings about human rights issues, when the controversial Duterte grew angry with President Obama.  He called Obama a “son of a whore,” and asserted, “I will swear at you.”

President Obama seemed to downplay the incident, and called Duterte a “colorful guy.”  But Obama’s aides later cancelled the planned joint meeting and rescheduled for a later date.

This is not the first instance in which Duterte has harangued a prominent figure.  He previously called the Pope a “son of a whore,” and U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg a “gay son of a whore.”

After the incident with President Obama, Duterte expressed regret through a spokesperson who said, “It came across as a personal attack on the US President."  The spokesperson also said, "We look forward to ironing out differences arising out of national priorities and perceptions.”
